Formula 1 Grand Prix Qatar 2024: A Culinary Adventure
Prepping for Perfection
This year, I had the privilege of attending the prestigious Formula 1 Grand Prix Qatar as a chef—a thrilling experience that blended the adrenaline of motorsport with the elegance of world-class gastronomy. Collaborating with the renowned culinary team at Do&Co, we catered to the elite Paddock Club guests, ensuring their culinary experience matched the grandeur of the event.
The adventure began two days before the race weekend. My mornings were immersed in the vibrant rhythm of the hot kitchen, where I worked alongside a diverse team of chefs. Prep tasks ranged from slicing fresh vegetables to arranging and labeling cooked dishes for chillers. Each item was meticulously tagged with expiry labels to maintain the highest standards of quality. The culinary setup was extraordinary, with specialized kitchens for hot dishes, pastries, cold preparations, Italian cuisine, and more—a true celebration of global flavors.
Race Weekend: Culinary Excellence in Motion
The real excitement kicked off on Friday with a practice session and sprint qualifying, followed by Saturday's sprint race and qualifying, and finally Sunday’s main event—the Grand Prix. Each day, I contributed to preparing dishes for the Asian kitchen at the Paddock Club. Post-prep, we donned our chef attire and received a briefing from the head chef on plating and serving techniques.
