As the registrar responsible for accrediting foreign media personnel entering Zimbabwe, I was the initial point of contact for all arriving crews intending to undertake media projects. Each foreign media team first sought clearance from our Ministry of Information, and my office was the crucial checkpoint for reviewing and processing their accreditation. This role positioned me as the first port of call, guiding them through the preliminary steps toward obtaining a temporary work permit, represented by a media accreditation card.
An excerpt from ministry of information clearance letter.
Throughout my career, I had the privilege of supporting some of the most notable productions that helped elevate Zimbabwe's tourism profile internationally. Two high points were facilitating The Amazing Race — the U.S. production’s 27th season in 2015 and the Australian version in 2019. These projects brought in massive crews, often over 200 personnel, all relying on my office to ensure their swift accreditation and seamless integration into the country.
These experiences stand out as some of the proudest moments in my career. Working alongside our line ministry and the tourism authority, I helped pave the way for these high-profile productions to showcase Zimbabwe’s breathtaking landscapes and vibrant culture to the world. Knowing that my efforts contributed to promoting my country’s image and supporting a memorable experience for our international guests was both fulfilling and inspiring.
